KFC dominate Essay Example
KFC dominate Paper JFC simply concentrates on competing head-to-head with competitive rivals this will lead to competitive convergence where all players find the environment tough and threatening. It needs to encourage managers to seek out opportunities in the business environment which they call strategic gaps. A strategic gap is an opportunity in the competitive environment that is not being fully exploited by competitors. By using some of the frameworks, managers can begin to identify opportunities to gain competitive advantage in five way, opportunity in substitute industries, opportunity in other strategic in other strategic groups/ spaces, opportunities in the chain of buyers, opportunities for complementary products or services and opportunies in new marketing segments (Sloman J, 2009) About the opportunities in substitute industries, JFC faces competition from industries that are producing substitutes, but substitution also provides opportunities. In order to identify gaps a realistic assessment has to be made of the relative merits of the products/technologies in the eyes of the customer. In Hanoi, there is many traditional foods which is favoured by consumer for instance Pho, noodles and meat roll but the safe quality in those is low, food poisoning is a serious health issue in Viet Nam (WHO, 2008). This means that JFC needs to design fast-food marketing in exploiting it to counter to traditional food. Establish an advertising focus on the safety on products is necessary. It was also noted that this can be confusing, as there may be several people involved in the overall purchase decision. The user is one party but they may not buy the fast-foods product themselves (SlomanJ, 2006). There may be other influencers on the purchase decision too. Importantly, each of these parties may value different aspects of the product or service. Lotteria, KFC target market to young age like students, officer who have enough financial ability to make purchase decision hence their stores near large street and office, university in Hanoi as well Ho Chi Minh city. KFC dominate the Northern market with 48 stores competitive with Lotteria 38 stores (GPdaily, 2009). JFC have a concentration in customers are children, families and young people. Although children have no capability to buy products but owning big influence on purchase decision from their parent, JFC may shift its view of the market and aim its promotion and selling at children buyers with the intention of creating new strategic customers. They use attraction to for children with family by put stores closely supper market, school and making a marketing strategy towards them. Another to consider is that opportunities in new market segments, looking for new market segments may provide opportunities but product/service features of JFC may need to change. Presently, KFC, Lotteria and BBQ are towards to urban area with medium income class they forget low-income class who have tight budget but still want to be satisfied by food-fast during busy work in city (Vietnamnet, 2009). With the emphasis is on selling emotional appeal, the alternative may be to provide a standard model as well low service of fast-food that costs less and would appeal to another potential market of low class people. It is necessary for Jollibee to choose a right generic strategy. The business cannot work well when select one or more approaches, and then fail to achieve them. Michael Porter has argued that a firms strengths ultimately fall into one of two headings: cost advantage and differentiation on generic strategy.à Figure 6: Porters Generic strategies (Mindtools, 2009)à Jollibee must classify the market in Vietnam and in global as two different markets. Expanding to the global where Jollibee must face many number of competitions, they cannot target a wide market, but in Vietnam market there is a few dominant competitors in fast-food industry that had been well-established in long time. When expand business operation in Vietnam, JFC provides fast-food products with a wide broad scope market of Vietnam besides attempting to giving unique products with Filipino taste, happy brand, focusing on children-family value (JFC, 2009). Therefore, the differentiation strategy is the best for company which seeks to provide products or services that offer benefits different from those of competitors and that are widely valued by buyers. The value added by the uniqueness of the product Filipino taste is played an important role to make the differentiation strategy of Jollibee which seeks to provide products or services that offer benefits different from those of competitors and that are widely valued by buyers (QuickMba, 2009). It may allow JFC to charge a premium price for it, the higher price will more than cover the extra costs incurred in offering the unique product like Filipino taste. In the situation, once suppliers increase their prices the JFC still may be able to pass along the costs to its customers who cannot find substitute products easily.à A form of portfolio analysis was used for classifying product lines or SBUs within a large company is that GE-Mc Kinsey Matrix. GE-McKinsey 9-box Matrix (Att, 2009)à From the Vietnam market, Jollibee defined business level strategies bases of the competitive strategy. To defined the position in the future, Jollibee define SBUs focus base on Porter five forces. By which, the demand for fast-food in Vietnam market is wide, the rivalry within industry is still high with some dominant firms in market and the profitability as well growth in this industry is potential due to demand increasing. Jollibee have cheap price, Asian meals suitable with Vietnamese people. It is low strength competitive due to when JFC expands market in Vietnam, specific North area, it will face hardly with KFC, Lotteria that were established in long term with loyal brand. Thus the industry attractiveness is high. On other hand, Jollibee account for a small market share compared with KFC and Lotteria, the distribution channel access is not wide, the profit margin relative to competitors is low. Hence the competitive strength of business unit is low. Jollibee is stepping into Selectivity/earnings cells on GE-McKinsey. In order to strengthen the position, those SBUs at JFC have to focus more on research and development spending, and trying to access the channel distribution in Vietnam.à 2. Strategic Methodà Jollibee is worldwide brand which a company already has a successful fast-food product. It is desiring to expand Vietnam market as well other ones by many fast-food restaurants to compete with competitors like KFC, Lotteria, it is important to build a powerful distribution system, accessing customers base at local market when expanding. In this situation Jollibee use Alliance to exploit new chances and obtaining more market share from local market. It cooperate with two or more organizations in Vietnam like KinhDo, BaoNgoc to work together at particular fast-foods field, so that each benefits from the strengths of the other, and gains competitive advantage by wide distribution systems and the customers base from these partners (Bnet, 2009). When selecting prospective partners, JFC will be gaining access to more research, more products and more presence in Vietnam by the network from local partners. Strategic alliances also involve the sharing of knowledge and expertise between partners as well as the reduction of risk and costs in areas such as relationships with suppliers and the development of new products and technologies in order to meet its strategic objective (Bnet, 2009).

Managing Markering Communication Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Managing Markering Communication - Essay Example Integrated Marketing Communications, or IMC, basically refers to the process of combining all the tools used in advertising so that they can function together. Promotion, one of the marketing mixââ¬â¢s 4 Ps, has its own combination of communication elements. All of these elements operate better if they are combined together than when they are used in isolation. Their functions are improved when integration incorporates more than the essential communication tools. There are other kinds of integration like vertical and horizontal integration. Horizontal Integration can happen across business functions as well as the marketing mix. For example, communications production, distribution, and finance should operate simultaneously when the telecom service providers seek to channel messages to their consumers. Different divisions like direct mail, sales, and advertising can operate concurrently via data integration. This calls for a marketing information structure which gathers and shares the pertinent information across different corporate divisions. Vertical Integration basically denotes that communications and marketing purposes have to be formed in such a way that they support the higher level commercial goals and objectives. Internal Integration, on the other hand, calls for all the staff to be kept informed and inspired about new advancements. In a telecom service provider, these could mean new corporate identities, new advertisements, new strategic partners or even new service standards.... Internal Integration, on the other hand, calls for all the staff to be kept informed and inspired about new advancements. In a telecom service provider, these could mean new corporate identities, new advertisements, new strategic partners or even new service standards (Schultz and Schultz, 2003). External integration calls for external allies like PR agencies and advertising to work collaboratively in order to avail an integrated and cohesive message. The main principles of integrated marketing communications comprise: Consistency: A major topic in integrated marketing is consistency. It basically speaks to delivering an identical message about a brand or service across all elements of the media. This is a function that can assist a telecom service provider to create a brand identity that is both effective as well as impressive. For example, a corporation with a high-quality brand has to ensure that its message to different media outlets maintain the same timbre of message that conve ys the promise of superb quality (Pelsmacker, Geuens and Bergh, 2004). If the business invests in an effective TV advertisement but cuts costs in its advertisements in print media, the clients will get a mixed message about the service. Distribution Considerations: Integrated marketing is also about the supply-chain outcomes of a service provider. This basically entails working with contractors that have good reputations that will raise the profile of the telecom service provider. It also means utilising information gathered during marketing to enhance services that meet customer expectations while also improving the general experience of the consumer. Utilitarianism and Deontology Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Utilitarianism and Deontology - Assignment Example There are many different philosophical perspectives that one could apply to the issue of human cloning; it is the utilitarian and deontological perspective that offer two interesting comparative views. Human cloning has dominated science fiction for decades with scenarios revealing how the practice could go terribly wrong. Ethical debates have proposed many other unique issues with cloning; everything from the development of unforeseen genetic flaws, to the devaluation of life, to whether, or not, a cloned being will have rights and even a soul. (McGee) However, it is the incredible potential of medical ââ¬Å"miraclesâ⬠that cloning might allow, in all its forms, which includes, ending infertility, eradicating genetic diseases, curing illnesses, replacing damaged organs, and last but not least, the ability to create life as they see fit, that continues to lure supporters. The potential positives and plausible negatives of human cloning are not an easy controversy to weigh. Utilitarianism essentially takes an ultimate stand of; do the ends justify the means? The philosophy cares less about how you accomplish something as long as the overall outcome leads to the greatest amount of overall good and happiness. (Moreland 1) While deontology considers less the outcomes and more about the intention behind doing it. The moral intent is more important in deciding whether something is good or bad, or right or wrong, has greater than the outcomes and results. The ideology embraces the ââ¬Å"Categorical Imperatives,â⬠which include a "universality" within the principles, all humans are rational agents, and must be treated as such.

The Good and Bad Times of Clinton Office Essay Example for Free
The Good and Bad Times of Clinton Office Essay Every presidency left people with significant events, both good and bad. This holds true to the American setting where each administration is sure to impart both legacy or prominence and most notably, controversy. In fact, it is ironic that people are keener in discussing the intrigues and flaws committed by a former President rather than acknowledge his concrete accomplishments and contributions to the country. Despite however this glaring life reality and human nature, it is still essential that a previous American leader be recognize for his efforts in unifying American people under a common stand which is for the nation to be stable, progressive and remains to be one of the most powerful and influential countries in the world. Such condition is what happened to the regime of the 42nd commander-in-chief of the United States, President William Jefferson ââ¬Å"Billâ⬠Clinton. Foremost his achievements and deeds, which are all supposedly aimed at empowering and uplifting the plight of American people; Clinton is best remembered through his controversial decisions and activities. In fact, beyond the apparent economic growth that his office attained, people are unfortunately reminded of Clintonââ¬â¢s dishonorable ethical blunder which was highlighted by the reported Monica Lewinsky sexual scandal. In an effort, therefore, to best understand and realize both the good and bad times of the Clinton office, it is empirically fair to present the nice and unpleasant things and events that happened during this presidential term. This is because in doing so, people will have the opportunity to realize the benefits of Clintonââ¬â¢s triumphs and most importantly, learn from his leadership mistakes. In his memoir ââ¬Å"My Life,â⬠Clinton made a poignant effort for the American people to understand him beyond his presidency. Regardless however of his charismatic and celebrated personality, Clinton struggled to rectify his dwindled and scandal-ridden administration. It became an inevitably difficult task for Clinton to fulfill his promises, while still campaigning for presidency, as well as adhere to his platform during his two-term office. This is primarily due to the reality that his feats were marred by his own faults. It is first worthy to take into consideration that Clintonââ¬â¢s political era has manifested goodness even before he became the initial Democratic president after Franklin D. Roosevelt to prevail over a two-term White House office. When his time came to lead the nation, Clinton made Americans benefit from further peace and order as well as economic advantages (ââ¬Å"Bill Clintonâ⬠1). Additionally, the good times of the Clinton office are further illustrated with the country reflecting the ever lowest unemployment rate, a feat which previous presidents have not achieved. The economic benefits made by the Clinton office were also depicted by the lowest inflation in a span of three decades, the soaring housing ownership in the entire history of U. S. , significant fall of crime rates in a number of states, and lessened welfare turn-over. These fiscal triumphs were more highlighted with the Clinton officeââ¬â¢s proposal of the first fair national budget which eventually ended in a budget surplus (ââ¬Å"Bill Clintonâ⬠1). Clinton time in office was likewise marked by an end of the period of the so-called big government. This is when significant measures were made that improved the educational system, protected and assured people with jobs, curbed firearms trade and reinforced environmental policies. The economic prosperity of Clinton office was corroborated by Kelly who stated that it is in his time that the stock market climbed radically. Aside from this, Kelly added that it is in Clintonââ¬â¢s regime that the Family and Medical Leave Act and North American Free Trade Agreement were passed and ratified, respectively. Lastly it was during Clinton office that international hostilities were put to an end including the reign of Saddam Hussein (Kelly 1). While the bad time of Clinton office significantly resulted from the failure of his proposal to undertake a system for national health care, it was in the second term that his presidency started to fall off. In fact, it is the period when Clinton earned more fame due to controversies that included the Gennifer Flowers, Whitewater Travelgate, the FBI file controversy as well as the emergence of Paula Jones and eventually the Lewinsky alleged intimate affair. Relatively, Gertz alarmingly noted that beyond Clintonââ¬â¢s dreadful confession, over a national television, that he ââ¬Å"misledâ⬠the American people concerning the Lewinsky scandal, he is more accountable for further upsetting cover-up. According to Gertz, the Clinton office was definitely blemished by a bad leadership decision that concerned guidelines which, in turn, affected and eventually harmed the nationââ¬â¢s security (Gertz 3). Gertz further revealed how Clinton betrayed the American people through his officeââ¬â¢s determined failure and disobedience to ââ¬Å"provide for the common defenseâ⬠which the American constitution requires. The author added that Clintonââ¬â¢s reckless guidelines, as regard key military and intelligence measures, affected the countryââ¬â¢s protection. Clintonââ¬â¢s apparent inconsiderate cover-up of this apparent wrongdoing betrayed and left the country with weaker and susceptible military. This is unfortunate especially during a period that its rival countries have strengthened and a more unsafe world exists (Gertz 3). Judging from the cited good and bad times of Clinton office, the historical importance of his regime became evident. In a time of a mounting divided politics and instability, Clinton succeeded in moving his plan to a core which led to mainstream America. Despite however of the bad times and even the aborted impeachment, Clinton is still and ultimately considered to be a very popular president. Some Writing from Nancy Tucker This page contains three pieces, Advice to Young Poets and Writers, Driving, and The Big Five- O. Advice to Young Poets and Writers Life is not easy. Write. Because you can, you must. Remember your roots, your pain. Use them. But roots and pain are not enough--move on from your own past. Look outward--use your eyes to see both what other people do not see and what other people see but do not talk about. Write. Learn to listen to the crickets, the dogs, the squeak of bicycles and to other people's stories. Ask questions. Wait for answers. Write. Look inward--test truth on your own pulses. Writing is both art and craft Use your skill, your talent to tell the truth--that's the point of being a writer. Write. Avoid self-righteousness--other people have truths, too. Laugh. And cry. In the same sentence, if you can do it well. Be afraid. Write anyway. Always, always, always do what your teachers say cannot be done. And when you teach, if you teach, remember you too are a learner: respect your students' truths even as you nudge them toward growth. Write. Begin now.
